Individual Services

INDIVIDUAL MUSIC THERAPY SERVICES

Atlantic Music Therapy, Inc. offers individual music therapy services for those seeking improvements in physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and spiritual health in a private setting.  As we primarily serve individuals with neurologic illness or injury, the focus of services is usually on sensorimotor, speech and language, and/or cognitive skill acquisition or rehabilitation.

Our Therapeutic Process

Assessment
The first step in our therapeutic process is to have an assessment.  This is the start of getting to know  your therapist and a chance for you to share all about yourself.  Assessments typically last 60-90 minutes and may be available via telehealth depending on the patients' specific areas of needs.
Care Plan
After your assessment, your therapist will take all the information and data you provided to develop a care plan.  This plan will outline what your therapist discovered as well as present initial goals and recommendations for duration and frequency of services.  The care plan is a living document - you and your therapist will revisit and revise it frequently!
Therapy Services
Once you and your therapist have reviewed and agreed upon your care plan, music therapy services will begin.  These services are most often provided in-home, but can be provided via telehealth in some instances.  While the services are fun and engaging, keep in mind they are work - you may need rest before or after your sessions!
Homework
Even if your therapist recommends multiple sessions a week, you will likely receive small homework assignments to keep you engaged in the therapeutic process between sessions.  Homework is important for your overall progress!
Discharge
We want you to feel confident moving forward when your individual music therapy services come to an end.  Upon discharge, your therapist will recommend supplemental resources and community-based services as needed.
